Hind Stalking

This outing is for a single rifle, where one hind or calf may be taken per person. Hind stalking is subject to weather conditions, and Black Sheep Adventures does not guarantee hind availability. It is a physically arduous activity, and it is the client's responsibility to ensure that they have the general fitness required to undertake the stalk.

This guided activity will include an experienced ghillie. Pickup is at 9:00 AM from the hotel to the hind stalking location, with a return drop-off to the hotel. The hind stalking activity is for a maximum of two persons and includes the license, transport, and packed lunch. Note: The estate rifle and ammunition will be provided for one person only.

It is the estate stalker's decision as to which beast(s) will be shot. Venison remains the property of the estate. There is no trophy fee for hinds.

Shooting Rules and Regulations:

For deer stalking with a rifle, most estates will be able to arrange for visiting hunters to borrow the "estate rifle" and use it in the presence of the owner or his employee, such as the gamekeeper or professional stalker. This is a common practice, but it is important to check with your sporting agent or host to ensure a suitable rifle is available. Please note, this option is not available to those under 17 years of age.

If you plan to use your own rifle and hold a current UK FAC with appropriate firearms for deer management, then you must notify the bookings team in advance, and the FAC must be brought with you. For overseas visitors, there is a requirement to hold a visitor's permit requiring a UK sponsor. Unfortunately, Black Sheep Adventures cannot provide this level of support at this time unless multiple stalking days are booked. For guidance on shooting sports see Guidance on bringing firearms to Scotland - Country Sport Scotland or Police Scotland Visitor Permits and 11(6) Authorities - Police Scotland
